A Daughter's Chasm

"A Daughter's Chasm"

Curled in a ball of fears

Eyes darting in uncertainty

"What do I do?" she pleads

From the hospital bed...

Wiping tears away

 She whispers "I'm so sorry"

As voices in her head

Echo and overwhelm...

 "Do you hear them?" "Who?"

"I want to go" "Where?"

My hand cradles hers

"Away forever"...

"I love you very much."

Is all that makes sense to say

As moments pass in silence

Our eyes locked in hope...

Wanting to believe the words

 And in herself again

She teetors on reality's edge

Cheeks wet with turmoil...

A fragile spirit beyond understanding

Grasping at moments

With a pleading heart

Frantic for her soul's return...

She waits afraid for rescue.
