All She Ever Wanted

"All She Ever Wanted"

All she ever wanted

Was to be loved

Not protected into doubting

Her capability,

And her parents padded every risk...

All she ever wanted

Was to thrive on her own

At the end of the sibling line

And not be the baby,

And her family's love gave soft expectations...

All she ever wanted

Was to be held

Desired and pursued

For who she really was,

And in her uncertainty she chased hurtful love...

All she ever wanted

Was a child's love

Pure and freely given

To prove her heart's knowing,

And her son's arrival opened heaven's gate...

All she ever wanted

Was regarding words

About when and why

And "What do you think?"

And she's gaining strength from other's forgetfulness..

All she ever wanted

Was the chance to be herself

And connect without settling

For anything less than her soul,

And now she's beginning to see the "where" of her destinations.

"Happy Birthday", Lindy...and congratulations on accomplishing the 26th year of your own incredible journey.

Love and respect,

Dad (9/28/05)
