Lost Father

“Lost Father”

With each reminding memory

The tears fall again

Nothing can pull me

Outside this aching heart…

My daughter’s moved away

Toward her destiny

While my mind “understands”

About attachments and freedom…

My soul is in pain

This loss searing to the core

I’m frightened of releasing

A life’s purpose gone…

She laughs on the phone

In a voice light with peace

Her knowing come true

In a world apart from me…

She’s found her course

And I praise the navigation

Missing her too much

To burden the flight…

Turning to here and now

I explore what surrounds me

For uncharted possibilities

With old maps and new hope.
