"Visit's End"
The week's almost over
As sunshine warms Duluth
And holds winter at bay
For a west coast Grandad...
The parting comes tomorrow
Amid goodbye hugs
It's none to soon
For this searching soul...
So much life
Inside such small space
The intensity cascades
Over my soft spirit...
Daughter and boyfriend
Both want relationships
Seeking common ground
From distant stances...
My youngest reaches out
Wise beyond her years
Reminding me to be humble
And teach the smallest...
What is it that she sees?
How can I connect
In this way so special to her
And keep to my path...?
"You're amazing with him"
She says, "You understand"
"Down on the floor"
"You just get Nicholas"...
We talk long and late
Into the final morning
Seeking I finally ask
"What is it that I do"?...
And the answer comes
A grail from the mist
Timeless words
Thru Shimoda-Bach...
How unconditional love
Sometimes can appear
Like uncaring
Covering pure acceptance...
Questions lead to answers
When the heart's asking
And paths less taken
Become certain steps.
